Thanks for the shout-out Lauren! At the show I took some close-ups of the names of friends’ homes (see above). Seeing them listed definitely enriched my sense of community in Illegitimate and Herstorical.
Kate Wadkins recently covered the current show at A.I.R. Gallery, Illegitimate and Herstorical (an exhibit on alternatives in art, love, power, knowledge and community) for Hyperallergic. The show was curated from an open call by Emily Roysdon. The show includes a huge knit and embroidered piece by L.J. Roberts, that maps queer houses in Brooklyn. And hey, guess what, MY HOUSE IS ON THE MAP! Cedar Mansion is home to 9 creative folks, some queer, some not, but always a space open to hosting community events and shows. It’s a wonderful surprise to see my home included in something like this, representing our community.
